Lighting
– An easy way to save energy
is to cut down on unnecessary lighting. You
can :
· Turn
off all lights when not in use
· Use
CFL’s wherever possible
· Focus
lights on your task instead of high wattage
lamps for the entire room
· Keep
bulbs and fixtures clean
· Use
natural sunlight wherever possible
-
Other Appliances-
· Purchase
BEE labeled star rated appliances
· Seal
windows and doors properly before turning on
AC
· Do
not keep hot food items in the fridge
· Minimize
the opening of the fridge door.
· Use
energy efficient motors and pump sets for
lifting water
· Switch
off appliances when not in use
· Your
TV and other Electronic items continue to
consume power when switched OFF
from remote. So next time, make sure that
these items are switched OFF from the source
· Stop
wastage of water, you can save a lot by fixing
leaking taps and overflowing tanks.
· Prefer
to purchase front loading washing machines
than the top loading ones. They consume 25%
less energy.
· Paint
your walls with light colours. The deep
colours absorb more light so you tend to use
higher wattage lamps.
